Asante’s heart and vascular program is home to the region’s first open-heart surgery program and first cardiac catheterization laboratory. Over the past 35 years, we’ve performed more than 12,000 open heart surgeries and over 14,500 coronary interventions. Our facilities
Our state-of-the-art facilities include a Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, a dedicated heart center for monitoring patients, seven cardiac catheterization labs, a cardiovascular recovery unit, three operating rooms, and diagnostic imaging services such as echocardiography and cardiac computerized axial tomography. Our physicians
Most heart patients are referred to Asante’s heart and vascular program by their primary care physician or cardiologist. To provide comprehensive cardiac care, we employ a dedicated and innovative team of cardiovascular and thoracic surgeons. We are affiliated with more than 50 cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, vascular surgeons, cardiac anesthesiologists, intensivists and hospitalists. OHSU collaboration
Although we strongly believe in making cutting-edge medical procedures available in our community, there are some relatively rare cardiac procedures, such as heart transplant, that are best referred to a major university medical center that performs them on a regular basis. For this reason Asante has established a close relationship with cardiologists at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Oregon. Brian Morrison, MD, of Southern Oregon Cardiology LLC travels to Portland every month to teach cardiology fellows and see patients in the OHSU Adult Congenital Heart Disease Clinic. He also provides follow-up care for these patients once they are back home.
