Your home away from home

The Francis Cheney Family Place provides affordable, temporary lodging for children and adults who are patients at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center or nearby Asante facilities and for their families. Designed for patients and families who live outside the Medford area, lodging is provided based on availability.

The Francis Cheney Family Place is located within easy walking distance of Asante Rogue Regional. The 8,000-square-foot facility provides a framework for mutual support while affording the privacy a guest might require. This philosophy is reflected in the design of Cheney Place.

Cheney Place exists because of philanthropy

Francis Cheney Family Place is named after Francis Cheney, who was a local businessman and philanthropist. He supported the Medford health care community for several years. In 1993, Mary Alice Cheney and her daughters made a leadership gift to Asante Foundation to help build the Francis Cheney Family Place, in memory of her husband and their father, Francis.

Additional donations are always welcome, and they help the Asante Foundation in its efforts to raise the additional funds necessary to maintain and operate the facility, and provide comfort for others. For more information regarding donations, please call Asante Foundation at (541) 789-5025.

A place to heal

A guest story: Meet Elias

Elias was three when he was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Asante has the only Pediatric Oncologist from Portland to the Bay Area. Elias travels from Smith River to Medford each month for his medical care.

When Elias comes to Asante for monthly treatments, his family stays at the Francis Cheney Family Place. Staying here, just steps away from Asante, relieves Elias’ family of unnecessary worries, so they can focus on helping him heal.
