For physician assistant James Stubenrauch, working on the Asante critical care team is a good match for his skills. Patients appreciate his attention to detail and focus during emergencies.

Mr. Stubenrauch has been practicing critical care medicine as a Physician Assistant at Asante since 2008. Previously he worked as an emergency medical technician in Portland and California, where he was based in emergency departments. He has completed additional training in critical care ultrasound and the Fundamental Critical Care Support course through the Society of Critical Care Medicine. His plans to use his English degree in academics changed after volunteering in public health in Bangladesh as an undergraduate; upon his return he decided to pursue medicine.

Mr. Stubenrauch says the great part of living in a small town is the opportunity to see people and families he's cared for.  “It’s wonderful to see people getting to return to their lives. In critical care we often give people a second chance at life and I see one of my roles as helping patients and their families work through the complex decisions that come with critical illness." He enjoys spending time with his family and pursuing international travel whenever possible.
