Dr. Downey is a new primary doctor for my husband & I since our former doctor left his medical clinic. Of course being used to our former doctor we were a little apprehensive about starting new with someone else. I have to say that the transition was easy & we are very comfortable with him. We like that he is open to some alternative approaches to our health, rather then piling on more drugs. Luckily, we haven't had any life threatening circumstances for our visit, other than a yearly physical. We do trust him to take care of our medical needs & we think that if he feels necessary to seek a specialist, he would do it. When we have had questions, we always reach out through "My Chart" & we have always received a response. We like him & are very happy to have been referred to us. The staff at the clinic as well as his nurse, are very pleasant as well.

The first receptionist emailed the back to get questions answered for me and I was contacted by phone quickly to hear my answers. Dr. Downey was prepared when I came in with my information on my charts.

He encourages patients to be knowledgeable of their condition and appears to appreciate their questioning directions to pursue in their care. He is supportiive and not dismissive of the patients independent research, and welcomes inquiry into various treatments. He doesn't present himself as the "all knowing doctor". but as a partner in care. I really appreciate this. His staff appears to be kind and supportive. I have only positive reports of his office personnel who have all been respectful and professional in their demeanor. It is a pleasure to visit his staff. Dr Downey really went to bat for me and got me into a specialist when I desperately needed one. He listens attentively, offers great direction and suggestions, is very kind and I hope he remains my doctor for years. Very thorough and excellent!

Though I'm unsure, I believe her name was Misty. She is the one who granted me an expedited appointment with the NP to begin my [ ], even though my relationship with Asante was not yet established and I had not yet met the primary care physician. Another Asante office didn't come close to the responsiveness that "Misty" gave me.

My wife and I have Dr. Downey as our Primary Care Doctor. We REALY like him. One of the many things is he ALWAYS enters the room with a HUGE smile and lots of energy!!! Where does he get that with the tons of patients he sees every day? Who likes going to the doctor's office anyway? We do when it is with Dr. Downey.

I think every employee I have encountered at Asunte family medicine has done their job. They've been courteous and helpful. I do not believe Dr Downey was listening to me clearly about the health care situation I came to him about. I think he is trying now, in the beginning I feel he didn't believe me. He may still not believe, but at least he is trying to figure out from my point of view now. I've had some truly bad experiences with physicians over the last few years and just going to the Dr at this point gives me so much anxiety I have to literally talk myself into going. Dr Downey has been friendly and professional. I do however believe at least in the 1st few appointments, he talked down to me and disregard concerns. At our last appointment he seemed to be listening more clearly. I appreciate that. It's ok to be a Dr and not have all the answers, it's not ok to disregard what a patient is telling them, since they have resources I do not have access to.

It is my preference to stay off prescription drugs. Dr.Downey is actively supporting me in this effort in suggesting dietary changes & supplements that may be beneficial. He keeps current on my progress in ordering blood tests, which will indicate if I'm improving or not. If I do have to take medication at some point, I will not we have worked as a team to avoid drugs.

Dr made sure I got the medication that I needed. Hospital dr ordered it my insurance wouldn’t approve it. Dr Downey made it possible that I got the medication in another name.

Dr. Downey has been my biggest cheerleader during my weight loss journey. He’s always supportive, gives me information on the issues I’m dealing with and makes sure that I’m comfortable with the plan for me.
