Asante president and CEO retires
Scott Kelly held the position for four years.
After a four-month leave of absence for health reasons, Asante President and CEO Scott Kelly announced his retirement from the organization on Monday, Feb. 13.
“Leading this amazing organization and the people who bring it to life has been an honor,” “Kelly said. “I am constantly impressed by our employees, providers and volunteers who give of themselves every day for our patients and community.”
Kelly joined Asante 23 years ago to lead the health system’s strategy and marketing efforts. In the years that followed, he was promoted to increasingly advanced leadership roles, including CEO of Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center, and executive vice president and chief operating officer of the health system before being appointed by the Board of Directors as the organization’s top leader in January 2019.
“I have known and worked with Scott for many years in my role as a board director. He is an intelligent, caring and dedicated leader, always striving to provide the best health care services to the people we serve,” said Peter Angstadt, Asante Board of Directors president. “I appreciate Scott and thank him for his exceptional service to Asante.”
During Kelly’s tenure, Asante Rogue Regional was named a 100 Top Hospital and a 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospital in the nation multiple years in a row. During his years as president and CEO, Asante was continuously named a 15 Top Health System in the nation.
“These remarkable achievements are shared and attained by everyone at Asante,” Kelly said. “I’m fortunate to have had the privilege of working with people who consistently put quality, safety and patient care first.”
When Kelly began his leave of absence this past October, Roy Vinyard was hired as the interim CEO to fulfill Kelly’s duties. Vinyard, who was the previous president and CEO of Asante, will continue in his interim role until a replacement is hired.
“Knowing that Asante is in good hands gives me comfort as I step away from this leadership role,” Kelly said.
The Board of Directors’ search committee has engaged a national recruiting firm to fill Asante’s top leadership position. “We will take our time to find the right fit for Asante’s culture, someone who will uphold our Mission and Vision and embrace our Values,” Angstadt said.
