Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center named a 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospital in the nation

For the third year in a row and the eighth time overall, Fortune/IBM Watson Health has named Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center one of its 50 top cardiovascular hospitals in the nation.

The study’s findings are great news for our community members who need heart care, close to home.”

This year’s study included 951 U.S. hospitals with cardiovascular services. Winning hospitals had better results on key measures including clinical outcomes, operational efficiency, financial performance and patient experience when compared with similar cardiovascular hospitals.

Based on the methodology, the study concludes that if all U.S. hospitals’ cardiovascular service lines performed at the level of the study winners:

• More than 6,400 additional lives could be saved.
• More than 5,000 additional bypass and angioplasty patients could be complication-free.
• More than $1.4 billion in inpatient costs could be saved.

“We have developed incredible teamwork with cardiology, the emergency department, anesthesia, nursing, rehab, pharmacy, hospitalists, intensivists, primary care providers and many others who care for patients with cardiac conditions,” said Timo Dygert, MD, a cardiologist with Southern Oregon Cardiology. “As a result, we’re able to address the patient’s current medical issues, as well as the effects it could have on their health years from now.”

Also noteworthy this year, Asante Rogue Regional received the Chest Pain – MI Registry 2021 Platinum Performance Achievement Award by the American College of Cardiology. “Our goal is to both educate and treat our patients with heart disease,” said Brian Gross, MD, a cardiologist with Southern Oregon Cardiology. “By meeting or exceeding this award’s requirements, our patients are ensured we hold ourselves to providing them with a higher standard of care.”

Since 1973, physicians at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center have performed more than 21,100 open-heart surgeries and nearly 20,000 coronary interventions (i.e., stents and balloon angioplasties), and have implanted nearly 12,200 pacemakers and defibrillators.
