Asante Named a 15 Top Health System in the Nation Five Years in a RowTruven - 15 Top Health Systems

The only health system in Oregon and Washington to achieve this award

For the fifth consecutive year, Asante was named one of the nation’s 15 top U.S. health systems by Truven Health Analytics®, a leading provider of information and solutions to improve the cost and quality of health care. Truven uses independent data sources to calculate its findings.

This year’s recognition is especially meaningful, according to Roy Vinyard President and CEO of Asante. “To earn the honor five straight years shows a sustained dedication to high quality care by our employees, medical staff and volunteers. It’s gratifying to see their outstanding effort validated.”

This year’s study evaluated 337 health systems and 2,924 member hospitals across the nation to identify the 15 health systems with the highest overall achievement on five performance measures, including inpatient outcomes, process of care, extended outcomes, efficiency and patient experience.

“Meeting stringent benchmarks is not just about the numbers — it’s about the people behind the data and metrics,” said Scott Kelly, Asante’s executive vice president and CEO of Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center. “They are at the heart of this organization.”

There are five health system winners in three categories — small, medium and large — based on their annual operating expenses. With an operating budget just under $750 million, Asante is ranked in the top five of the small health system category.

Based on the results of this year’s study, winning health systems outperformed their peers with:

  • 17.5 percent shorter wait times in the emergency department
  • 13.4 percent fewer in-hospital deaths
  • 8.5 percent fewer complications
  • 10.2 percent shorter length of hospital stays

“When people come to Asante, they can expect quality care with high-quality outcomes,” said Jamie Grebosky, MD, Asante’s chief quality and patient safety officer. “We consistently focus on top performance benchmarks such as infection prevention, reducing readmission rates and prompt follow-up with patients after they leave the hospital.”

As the health care landscape changes, Asante remains committed to giving back to the communities we serve. Last year, Asante invested $127.4 million back into the community to help improve the overall health of the region.
